The
Ghana Movie Club offers the general public to watch new unreleased movies before they come to the market for consumption. New movies are watched on the club meetings on Wednesdays by journalists, actors and actresses as well as artists who feature in the said movies.
After a particular movie is shown, the people mentioned above are given the chance to review the movie and offer constructive criticism to the production house. The Ghana Movie Club started with Socrate Safo's 'Sons of Satan' followed by 'A Little Affair'.
'A Little Affair' is not your conventional type of a movie. Rules are meant to be broken. It's a movie that broke some of the essential rules in film making. It is usually a hero's triumph and a villain's death or disaster at the end of a movie.
In this movie, Adjetey Anang played Prof Ken. As a young professor, young ladies on campus find solace in getting close to him because of his affable looks. Two of his students start getting funny ideas as they try getting close to him. They had fallen heel in love
He saw the sudden closeness as a lecturer-student relationship but to the ladies, it was students trying to woo their lecturer. This closeness forces his uncompromising and busy-girlfriend-always-running-errands for her dad to be jealous and complained.
Eventually when the girlfriend traveled to South Africa to run errands for her dad, Dzifa played by Kafui K. Danku ceased the opportunity and offered to cook him a meal at his house. This is where the twists and turns in the movie started.
Apparently, Dzifa had heard that, Prof. Ken was warming the bed of her step-mother played by Kalsum Sinare Baffoe. After failing to convince Adjetey why he should have sexual intercourse with her, Dzifa goes to report to implicate him as raping her.
'A Little Affair' was directed by Kofi Rana. I like the fact that, big producers are seeing his potentials and tapping into it. He again brought his originality to bear on this movie. He might not be in the same league with the Kwaw Ansahs but the young man is steadily growing to a mature film maker.
After the screening of the movie, Adjetey Anang told GhanaCelebrities.Com about the sensitive nature of his role in the movie.
First of all, we were treating a subject that is very sensitive the issue was rape and also unhealthy relationships. The character I played was involved with a number of girls ladies for that matter."
Also the issue of how our audience or viewers easily tag you after you play some of these sensitive roles is not the best. It was a bit uncomfortable but then in the end I gave my best shot.
