Mr. Opoku gave the warning in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani on measures his outfit had taken to ensure proper environmental hygiene, as well as limiting the noise levels created by traders, some Christian, Muslim and other religious preachers.
At present, the Directorate is concentrating on educating the people about the ill effects of noise through periodic meetings with food vendors and gospel preachers, he said.
Mr. Opoku said excessive noise disturbed the peace of the public and caused health problems such as hearing impairment and high blood pressure.
Unhygienic conditions also caused cholera, diarrhoea, diphtheria and other sicknesses, he said.
He urged residents in the Municipality to collaborate with officials of the Zoomlion Company and the Environmental Health Directorate to help evacuate refuse from households and other areas.
