RABAT (AFP) - Morocco will replace strife-hit Egypt as the host country for Africa's final qualifying round for the 2012 Olympics football tournament, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced on Thursday.

Egypt gave up the tournament due to the tense political and security situation in the country.

"Following
the withdrawal of the Egyptian Football Association from the hosting of the CAF Under-23 African Championship due to understandable circumstances, CAF confirms that the event will now be held in Morocco from November 26 to December 10," said CAF.

"The top three teams qualify for the London 2012 Olympics and the fourth-placed team will take on a side from Asia in a play-off."

Marrakech and Tangiers will be the main venues, with additional venues being Rabat and/or Fes.

Egypt, Gabon, South Africa, Ivory Coast, Morocco, Nigeria, Algeria and Senegal have qualified for the eight-nation event.
